There should be commuter rail routes from Santa Monica, the South Bay, and Long Beach going Downtown (and/or to these locations). If that isn't possible, at least make the light rail have an express route (for example, run the Blue and Expo lines with only 4 or 5 stops the entire route). This would make rail as opposed to driving the faster alternative to most commuters, as travel times via rail would be halved.
