I ride transit frequently, and often find myself walking long distances after getting out of the bus/rail because my destination isn't exactly near--or far--from the stop. I'm talking about that annoying little distance that usually requires an extra 10-20 minute walk. I wonder if there's a way to relieve that last bit of walking. This isn't me being lazy, because I definitely don't mind walking! But there are times when, and travelers for whom, the extra 10-20 mins of walking is simply inconvenient (weather) or too strenuous (carrying loads, elderly, etc.). The option to ride--maybe short shuttle lines down major arterials?--can be useful. That was the idea behind Angels Flight way back then, right? |
