Walking is one of the cleanest, cheapest, and healthiest ways of getting around there is, and nothing makes it easier to walk than putting the stuff you're trying to reach closer to where you are.

To do that LA has to reform its zoning regulations to allow more mixed land uses: shops, offices, and parks within walking distance of housing.
