We should continue to develop carpooling match programs at all LAUSD K-12 schools. Our carpool matching program is geared towards helping teachers and support staff to carpool to their school site. This carpool match program is unique because students are taught to estimate the amount of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions prevented by the participants’ carpooling activities. This carpool matching service is provided toLAUSD schools at no cost, and can be replicated for any public or private business location.

Based upon our previous estimates, we are confident that LAUSD employees can prevent 100 tons of carbon dioxide emissions from entering the atmosphere in one year. Implementing this carpool match program will be a great achievement for the LAUSD, and for the City of Los Angeles.
