Street food makes for vibrant living streets. Vending can also be an economic opportunity for low income residents. Properly regulated, street food and movile food could also be a source of healthy food in areas that lack enough farmers markets and grocery stores. Since vending on the sidewalk is currently illegal in the City of Los Angeles, policy makers lack carrots or sticks to encourage more venders to sell fruits, vegetables and healthy meals and snacks.
