Issuance and enforcement of permit parking needs to move into the new millenium! Applying for and issuing parking permits can be totally automated using the DMV and other City databases (such as DWP), so that requests can be processed online and issued by automation, rather than BY HAND!

To make the permit parking system more user friendly, permits don't need to be issued, rather, the handheld devices that recognize license plates that interface with DMV and other databases can be used, eliminating the need for the hand-written stickers.
