Remove the 110 freeway and create a linear park going from downtown to the San Gabriel Mountains. You could widen the river channel, make it more natural in certain places, and thread paths for pedestrians, bikes, and horses along the length of the park. You would have to find a way to connect Griffin/Avenue 52 to Via Marisol to put a continuous road on either side of the Arroyo, but the trade-off would be worth it. It would reinvigorate Figueroa as a commercial corridor and the increased use of the Gold Line would spur transit-oriented development near the stations, and might even trigger the emergence of the promised by ever-elusive green-tech corridor along its route.
