First of all, this street needs to be revised in many different ways because traffic on Central is completely out of hand. At Olympic & Central, left turn signals should be installed because the demand to turn left is extremely high and current capacity is way over its limit 24 hours a day. On the southbound side, traffic between Olympic and Washington is really bad, and should have one side of parking removed in order to implement a reversible lane during rush hour and have better traffic signal syncing for Central, as well as resurfacing the street. A traffic signal at 17th St will be needed to handle the high demand of drivers turning left for the eastbound 10. The traffic signal at Washington should be prioritized for the afternoon pileup as well (both sides of Central). On the northbound side, the stretch between Adams and Washington can be better improved by having longer traffic signal time because the traffic can stretch out as far as 22nd & Central just to bypass Washington, and also have a limited protected right turn signal on a four-head signal (red, yellow, green, green arrow) as soon as pedestrians are done crossing for the afternoon rush hour because those heading right are the ones that cause some of the delays. At 41st Street, there should be a four-head signal (red, yellow, green, green arrow) for southbound traffic because demand to turn left at 41st has risen to an all-time level, and the street is not wide enough to support left turn pockets. At Vernon, there should be left turns permitted during peak hours because Central traffic has to detour through residential streets to get Vernon from either Hooper or Wadsworth. Installing four head signals will solve this problem. At Slauson, there should be protected/permissive
