Long one of the city's most prestigious addresses, Wilshire Boulevard is also a wonderful embodiment of Southern California's urban ambitions during the 20th century. Between downtown and the beach, It passes through three cities and many of the region's largest business and population centers. Through Wilshire Center, Miracle Mile, and Beverly Hills, it encompasses countless architectural landmarks and unforgettable streetscapes. The boulevard also has arguably the best transit access in the Los Angeles, served by two Metro rail lines and its most successful rapid bus line. Despite its sheer length, it is one of the region's most pedestrian-friendly streets, with ample street life supported by a density of uses, wide sidewalks, and pleasant landscaping. Wilshire Boulevard also has some of the city's best street tree collections, including a lushly planted stretch in Wilshire Center and the iconic median palm trees in Miracle Mile.
