"Nobody walks in LA." City sidewalks are in sad repair. City laws allow bicyclists to use the sidewalk as long as they yield to a pedestrian. Why not use all this bicycle money to repair the sidewalks and stripe them for one way bicycle traffic? Bikes would have to use the sidewalk on the side of the same direction of road traffic, and in return would have a much SAFER ride removed from the roadway. SAFER sidewalks would also benefit pedestrians, especially the elderly and disabled who are often unable to navigate the uneven and broken sidewalks that the city has no timetable to fix.
