Reduce the number of unnecessary lane changes on highways. They did this in Minnesota and it really helps. If the lane you're in ends and you have to change lanes or merge, it can really slow traffic and cause accidents. Repainting lanes can reduce this, in a cost effective way, compared to adding additional pavement. Contact the Minnesota Dept of Transportation for what they did.
