To avoid bikes conflicting with buses that cross bike lanes at bus stops, redirect the cyclist to a track that would run behind the bus stop. Once the bus stops is cleared, the cyclists is moved back onto the bike lane in the street. These avoids the cyclist merging with traffic or having to stop behind the bus.

The first minutes of this video, created by Mark Wagenbuur, has an example of this in the Dutch city of Utrecht.
